Student Learning Outcomes:

Students will learn how to perform operations with complex numbers, matrices, and polynomials, and learn how to use relations and functions to solve problems.  Students will also develop an understanding of mathematical concepts necessary for the successful study of Algebra II and higher level math courses.

 

Materials:

  • Textbook (provided)

  • 3 Ring Binder or 5 subject notebook

  • Pencils/Paper

  • CalculatorI have calculators for student use in class but these will not be available to check out for home use.  Students are strongly urged to purchase a calculator of their own, especially if they plan on any mathematics class after high school.  I recommend any Texas Instrument (TI) calculator model TI-83 or above. 

Grading Plan:

  • 1-2 quizzes per chapter.  Quizzes can be re-worked for half credit.

  • Chapter tests will be given at the completion of each chapter. 

  • You can expect homework every day.  Homework will be kept in 3 ring binder or 5 subject notebook.  Homework is for learning and will be an important practice tool for doing well on assessments.  All homework will be turned in at the completion of each chapter.

  • Seward School Grading Scale Applied With Knowledge That:

Homework/Projects 10%

Quizzes 40%

Tests 50%


 

Extra Help - Tutoring

Extra help and tutoring is available and encouraged for any and all students each morning before class.  I will be in available in my room for tutoring every morning at 7:40.  Free tutoring is also availalbe every Mon, Tuesday and Thursday nights at the high school.  Podcasts are also available for each lesosn.

Attendance: 

Students are responsible for all work missed when absent from school.  You must visit the instructor for notes or Podcasted lessons will be available for all students at http://hspod.seward.esu6.org/users/loniwatson/

Students have 2 school days to make up any missing work/assessments from each individual absence. 

Classroom Rules of Conduct:

  • Bring your materials to class every day

  • Be working on your opening assignment when the first bell rings

  • Be prepared to do your best in class each day

  • Help your classmates and yourself by respecting the rights of all students to learn.
